Dr. Paul J. Streer
Personal: Dr. Paul J. Streer
is a Professor of Accounting in the J.M.
Tull
School
of Accounting at the University of Georgia. He holds a B.S. from S.U.N.Y. at Buffalo
and an M.A.S. and Ph.D. from the University
of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has had
a total of five years of diversified public accounting experience with Arthur
Andersen and Co. and a regional C.P.A. firm. Dr. Streer’s main area of
interest is federal income taxation and he teaches a partnership and an estate
and gift tax course in the Masters of Tax program. He has published fifty
articles in various academic and professional journals. He maintains an active
involvement with professional and academic organizations. He has served as a
Trustee of the American Taxation Association, a member of the Tax
Simplifications Subcommittee of the American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants and Chairman of The Continuing Professional Education Subcommittee
of The Georgia Society of CPA’s.
He frequently serves as an instructor in continuing education programs at both
the national and state levels.
Dr. Streer has been a resident of
Athens for twenty eight years. He is married and he and his wife Ruth have
three children, Nathan (31), a Physician, John (26), a UGA Business School
graduate, and Elizabeth (22), a UGA graduate. He worships at First Assembly of
God. His hobbies include sports and physical fitness activities.
